I have a deep belief that when we feel overwhelmed, we often cannot see the solutions that are within our grasp and thus we remain stuck. I also firmly believe that many of life's problems can be alleviated by sharing them with someone who is trained to listen and offer alternative ways of thinking. Often implementing some very simple and practical changes can have remarkable results. Sometimes we just can't see the wood from the trees.
I have worked for many years coaching people through a variety of issues such as career choices; relationships; emotional upheaval; bereavement and loss; financial struggle; emotional abuse; and loss of direction in life.
My experience is wide and varied as I started my counselling career as an art therapist working with young male adolescents in custody facilities and children in group homes. I ran a group for inmates at the Toronto Jail (Don Jail) and I designed and ran a Creative Arts group called Voyage of Discovery for adults in a center in Toronto's Regent Park and I also ran it with private groups. I spent many years working with people of all ages and issues through a company offering counselling services to employees through their work benefits such as the Toronto and Catholic District School Boards; the Toronto police service; Bell Canada; University Health Network (UHN); Rogers Cable Company and so many more.
I have a B.A. from the University of Toronto where I majored in Religious Studies and an M.Ed. from OISE, University of Toronto.
My Canadian Registrations include those of Psychotherapist and Art Therapy.
I have written an eBook called Voyage of Discovery: An Art therapist and young male offenders find their way using the Projective Drawings, Draw a Person in the Rain and Draw a Person in the Rain with Changes. You can see this on my Canadian website yvonnerose.com.
